proper time to shrink tempdb size?

hi,
working on sql server 2000.
Can you shrink tempdb's log and data file size at any time
during the day on production servers?
Will this impact other user's jobs on the server?
many thanks.
JJPlease don't post independently in multiple newsgroups. You can add the
other newsgroups in the "Newsgroups" section in the header and it will show
up in all those simultaneously as will the answers. See my reply in the
other newsgroup.

There could be problems, or at least wasted time and fewer people getting
answers. If you post INDEPENDENTLY in separate newsgroups, someone could
answer you one place, and someone else could read your question in a
different group, and not know that you had already been answered. The
threads are kept completely separate., A second person could spend time
researcching and responding to a question that had already been answered.
This is wasting time they could have used to help somebody else.
If you list all the newsgroups in the header in one post, then any answer
posted in one newsgroup will be visible to people reading your question in
any of the included newsgroups.
Does that make sense?

multiple addresses to the group. One person answered me

But when I answered back in one group, my answer didn't

programmatically set the paper size and and paper layout

how can i set the paper size and paper layout programmatically in RS. im using c#.net as prog. lang. for this. Pls help thanks!

Use the SOAP API SetProperties to modify the PageHeight and PageWidth of the report.

|||With the Webservice you can communicate with the server and get informaion about reports and could do management jobs such as creating subscriptions. you could also render a report thru the SOAP-Webservice.
Its similar to a database-connection (if you are more familar with db-connections).
With the SOAP-Connection you don't need to call URLs, you could make a web-reference in any type of VS-Project and then use it like a reference to a dll..
Here's some more MS-stuff to read..

I cannot get beyond this line:

rs.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials

I get a soap exception everytime stating that the user does not have the permissions to perform the task. Any thoughts on where and what I need to edit to get this working?

Programatic cube partition creation?

How can you programmatically create cube partitions? I have a cube that
is 3.2GB in fact data size and a year should contain about 35GB of fact
data. I would like to partition it into several slices, however I do not
want to create 50 partition through the GUI. Help me please. Thanks.
Kevin Brooks
If this is AS2K5, then you can use XMLA scripting. Just create one partition
using SSMS, then right-click on it and generate an XMLA script. Then you can
modify the script for the other 49 partitions and run the script through
SSMS to create them.
If using AS2K, then there is a similar, but unsupport utility called DSO/XML
that is available for download here:
